About Us
The Department of Nutritional Science and Dietetics is one of the newly created Departments under the School of Vocational Studies of Kyambogo University in January 2022.
Vision: A Center of Excellence for Nutrition and Dietetics Professional Development, Research, and Innovations
Mission: To provide quality and holistic training, professional development and capacity building in Food systems, Nutrition, Dietetics and related fields
Strategic Goals
Develop and deliver outstanding demand-driven academic and research programs in nutritional sciences, dietetics, and related fields. Actively implement community outreaches and disseminate research in Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and related fields
Academic Programmes
Currently, the department runs two (2) academic programmes;
- A four-year B.Sc. Human Nutrition & Dietetics
- A two-year. M.Sc. Human Nutrition.
Staff
The department has seven full-time academic staff; five of whom are PhD holders and two in the advanced stages of completing their PhD programmes. The staff has extensive experience in nutrition, dietetics and health-related training and research that positions the department for leadership in undergraduate and graduate training research and research supervision. As a team, the staff trains nutritionists and dietitians equipping them with the knowledge and skill required to address the problem of malnutrition. Undergraduate and graduate training programmes are offered in the areas of human nutrition and dietetics.
